Developing results that matter

We are here to assist you in the implementation of IPA cross-border programmes on the internal borders of Western Balkan countries. We will support you to enhance the project preparation capacities in order to prepare cross-border development project under the IPA CBC programme and to strengthen your institutional capacities to implement the same projects.

CBIB

CBIB - Cross Border Institution Building is an EU-funded regional project initiated in June 2006, by the European Commission in order to support the national authorities and the local stakeholders in implementing future IPA CBC programmes among Western Balkans countries. The first phase of the project ended in October 2008. The second phase started on 24th November with the planned duration of 18 months.

In June 2006, the main task before both the CBIB I and the countries of the Western Balkans was to set the basis for the cross-border cooperation that was to take place for the first time on the WB internal borders in the framework of the new financial instrument, IPA.

Now, CBIB II role is to strengthen the capacities of the national and joint structures to effectively and efficiently manage the programmes implementation, as well as the capacities of the eligible partners for preparing and implementing cross-border development projects under IPA programmes.

Building a network of collaborative partnerships

The CBIB II operates from five regional offices: Belgrade, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje and Tirana covering: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro as well as Kosovo under UNSCR 1244/99.

The project team works closely with all the relevant stakeholders such as National Authorities, Joint Management Structures, Local Authorities, Regional Development Agencies, Chambers of Commerce, Universities and Research Institutions, SME Agencies, CSOs and other non profit organizations eligible to apply for funds under the IPA CBC programmes.

We will support you in developing your capacities in order to be able to fully participate in the implementation of the IPA cross-border programmes. We will jointly underpin efforts to improve neighbourly relations which would lead to higher level of cooperation in region.

Sharing the knowledge and experience

Our team will operate in the field distributing the necessary information, delivering targeted trainings and providing hands-on support to the project beneficiaries according to their individual needs, in order to ensure the effective and efficient management of the projects and programmes during the implementation cycle.
