Developing results that matter

We are here to assist you in initial IPA programming: preparation of the cross-border programmes and setting up the operational structures. We will support you to enhance the project preparation capacities in order to prepare cross-border development project under the IPA CBC programme and to support strengthening your institutional capacities to implement the same projects.

CBIB

The Cross-Border Institution Building (CBIB) is an EU-funded regional project launched in June 2006 with the envisaged duration of 27 months. The project goal is to improve and broaden the cooperation among local communities, towns and enterprises in the Western Balkan countries. The basis for the improvement of cross-border cooperation is development of the institutional and project preparation capacities of the beneficiary countries.

Building a network of collaborative partnerships

The project operates from four regional offices: Belgrade, Sarajevo, Skopje and Tirana covering six Western Balkans countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia (including Kosovo under the UNSCR 1244). The project team works closely with key stakeholders such as National and Local Authorities, Universities and Research Institutions, Chambers of Commerce, SME Agencies and NGOs. We will support you in defining the priorities of the border regions and necessary measures to address the existing needs, building on previous experiences to achieve the results in a more efficent way. We will jointly underpin efforts to improve neighbourly relations which would lead to higher level of cooperation in region.

Sharing the knowledge and experience

Our assistance will be provided through capacity building, information dissemination, training and hands-on practical support. Our team will operate in the field distributing the information about the necessary legal and administrative framework of the new Instrument for Pre-accession assistance (IPA), assisting in drafting the cross-border programmes, organizing the targeted and effective trainings according to the specific needs of the border regions.
