The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia – Albania

Under IPA 2007-2013 the former Yugoslv Republic of Macedonia will participate in 2 bilateral programmes with Member States: Bulgaria – the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Greece– the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia , in 1 bilateral programmes with Western Balkan Country the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia – Albania and in South East European Space (SEE)  transnational programme.

Under IPA 2007-2013 Albania will participate in 1 Bilateral programme with Member State Greece – Albania, in the Adriatic programme (programme including Member States and Western Balkan countries), in 2 bilateral programmes with Western Balkan Countries: Albani – Montenegro and the former Yugoslav of Macedonia- Albania, and in 1 transnational programmes South East European Space (SEE) .

Cross-border programme

Drafting of the cross-border programme started on February 19th, 2007 and the final draft was submitted to the European Commission on May 31st, 2007. The document was officially approved on December 18th. The Financial Agreement between the EC and the participating countries will be signed beginning of 2008 and the implementation of the programme can start after that.

Promoting sustainable development in the cross-border area

 

Priority I

Fostering a cross-border economic, environmental and social development

Measure I.1

Economic development with an emphasis on tourism promotion

Measure I.2

Sustainable environmental development with an emphasis on protection, promotion and management of natural resources and ecosystems

Measure I.3

Social cohesion and cultural exchange through people to people and institutions to institutions actions

Management of the programme

Both countries will be managing the programme according to the centralised management model. The joint structures are in the establishment process.

JTS will be located in Struga, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the Antenna in Elbasan,Albania.

Eligible area

The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia: Pelagonia, Polog and Southwest regions

Republic of Albania: Korce, Elbasan and Diber regions.
